Our primary mission is to reduce the spread of HIV infection in the Hispanic communities through early detection and intervention, HIV/AIDS health education and risk reduction education, and linkage to care and treatment services.

Union Positiva, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to leading the fight against the devastating medical, social and economic effects that the HIV/AIDS epidemic and other related illnesses inflict on our Latino communities. 

The agency offers a variety of services and programs targeted specifically to Latino Men who are gay or bisexual (MSM), who are Spanish speaking, and/or Bilingual, or English speaking only. These services are free and confidential as well as designed for Latino males who do not know their HIV status, or that might have been already diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

Services are available in Spanish and English by trained and certified staff. Among others the following are programs and services specifically adapted for Latino males who are gay or bisexual (MSM), ages 13 and older:

  1. HIV Rapid Testing, Counseling and Referrals
  2. Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services for HIV positives
  3. Program Interventions like “Healthy Relationships” also for HIV positives Latino Males Adults who are gay or bisexual
  4. Mpowerment/Grupo Reaccion: a Drop-In Center for Latino males who are gay or bisexual ages 17 and older, independent of their HIV status.
  5. Youth Services for Young Latino males between the ages of 13 and 24 who are gay or bisexual (MSM) and living with HIV

HIV Rapid Testing, Counseling and Referrals:

It is free and confidential. Your results will be ready between 20 and 40 minutes. Available in Spanish and/ or English.

Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services (CRCS) for Gay or Bisexual Latino Males Living with HIV
Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services (CRCS) is an HIV prevention activity that focuses on the needs of the individual.  A counselor works closely one-on-one with the client and facilitates access to with existing systems to provide all necessary services to clients encourage responsible behavior and reduce the spread of HIV infection, as well as preventing HIV re-infection. Free and confidential, available in Spanish or English, and it includes incentives.

Healthy Relationships program for Adult Latino Males who are HIV positive and Gay or Bisexual:   
The Healthy Relationships program is a five-session, small-group meeting for adult gay or bisexual men living with HIV or AIDS. It focuses on developing skills, building a belief in yourself that you can make your situation better and creating hope for the future using positive examples and practicing new skills. 

The most important parts of the Healthy Relationships program are:
1- Understanding stress and how to deal with it in major life areas—talking to family, friends and sexual partners about your HIV status, and building healthier and safer relationships.
2 - Using a variety of activities to teach and practice skills for coping with stress
3 - Teaching decision-making skills about whether to tell others about your HIV status and when.
4 -Having discussions that help motivate a change in risky behaviors and living safer.
5 -Using movie clips to demonstrate new skills, get the group
                       talking and provide scenes for ‘acting out’ new skills.

This Healthy Relationships program has been adapted by Union Positiva especially for Adult Latino Men who are HIV positive and have sex with men.

It is free and confidential, also available in Spanish and/or English. It includes incentives

MPowerment / Grupo Reacción:
MPowerment’s “Grupo Reacción” is a community-based program designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for men of all ages who have sex with men.  Union Positiva offers this program and it includes its own independent Drop-In Center, uses informal and formal outreach, discussion groups, parties and other events and advertising to reach a broad age range of Latino gay and/or bisexual men ages 17 and older to provide HIV prevention, safer sex, and risk reduction messages. Participation is free and confidential. Program participation is in Spanish, English, and Bilingual.

Young Latino Males Ages 13 to 24 who are HIV positive and Gay or Bisexual:  Healthy Relationships program
